Dr. Svistov’s research activity concerns treatment outcomes in patients with vascular brain disorders and neurological oncology. His MD thesis was entitled ‘Perioperative transcranial Doppler ultrasonography in arteriovenous malformations of the brain’ (1993).

Dr. Svistov is the leading specialist in Russia in open and endovascular surgery for vascular brain disorders. He has coauthored 162 research articles, 4 monographs, and 1 neurosurgery guideline. Six PhD theses were successfully defended under his supervision.
