MD, DMSc, Academician of the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy, Ministry of Defense of Russia; Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Director of the Saint-Petersburg I.I. Dzhanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Parfenov had studied cerebral hemodynamics in patients with vascular brain disorders and traumatic brain injury, blood flow in major arteries of the brain in patients with various neurosurgical pathologies. His MD thesis was dedicated to the diagnosis of abnormal reactivity of cerebral blood flow and development of treatment methods for patients with traumatic brain injury. In 1996, he defended his DMSc thesis entitled ‘Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography in neurosurgery’.

He has coauthored 179 research articles.

Dr. Parfenov is a Laureate of the State Award of the Russian Federation, Laureate of the Russian Government Award, and a Laureate of the Award of the N.I. Pirogov Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. He is the Head of the Neurosurgery Counseling at the Saint Petersburg Health Committee.
