This journal was founded by was founded by Moscow Association of Neurosurgeons in 1998 due to the initiative of professor V.V. Lebedev and professor V.V. Krylov. This journal is on the list of leading peer-reviewed journals, recommended by State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles of Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for doctoral thesis publications. This journal is research and practice title. The priorities of this journal are the publications of new achievements and technologies in neurosurgery, evidence-based medical trials and rare clinical cases. Moreover, the title informs neurosurgeons about congresses delivery, forthcoming conferences and workshops in neurosurgery. The special sections are devoted to history of neurosurgery, memorable dates, experimental studies and apprenticeship training. Nowadays the editorial board and editorial review board both  include the leading specialists in the fields of neurosurgery, anesthesiology and reanimation from RF and foreign countries (from USA and People's Republic of China, Taiwan).
