In 2003, he graduated from the I.P. Pavlov Ryazan State Medical University, specialty “general medicine”. From 2003 to 2005, he was trained in residency specializing in “neurosurgery” (N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine).
Since 2005, he worked as a neurosurgeon at the department of Emergency Neurosurgery of the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine. During his work, he completed internships in Stuttgart (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Zurich (Switzerland), Taipei (Taiwan), Murnau (Germany).
In 2010, under the guidance of his teacher, Academician of Russian Academy of Sciences V.V. Krylov, he defended his PhD thesis on “Tactics of surgical treatment of cerebral aneurysms in elderly patients in the acute period of subarachnoid hemorrhage”.
From 2014 to 2020 he was head of Neurosurgical Department for treatment of patients with brain vascular diseases of the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine.
In 2018, under the guidance of Academician V.V. Krylov, he defended his doctoral thesis on “Surgical revascularization of the brain in the acute period of cerebral ischemia”.
In the same year, at the annual Moscow festival “Formula of Life” he became the winner in the nomination “The best neurosurgeon of Moscow”.
In 2018–2019, he held the position of professor of the department of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Complex Rehabilitation of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
Since 2020, he is Chief Physician at University Clinic of Clinical Center of Maxillofacial, Plastic Surgery and Dentistry of the A.I. Evdokimov Moscow State Medical University. With the direct participation of V.A. Lukyanchikov, the department of neurosurgery was organized in the clinic and a multidisciplinary concept for treatment of head and neck pathology was developed. Also, since 2020, he has been professor at the department of Neurosurgery and Neuro-Resuscitation of the A.I. Evdokimov Moscow State Medical University, an expert of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In the same year, he underwent professional retraining in the organization of health care and public health.
Since 2021, he holds a part-time position of professor at Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the I.P. Pavlov Ryazan State Medical University.
He is a board member of the Association of Neurosurgeons of Russia since 2021.
Viktor Alexandrovich made a great contribution to development of methods of brain revascularization, treatment of complex brain aneurysms and acute cerebral ischemia, mini-invasive neurosurgery, he proposed many new techniques that have been put into practice, developed innovative methods of high-flow brain bypass surgery, carried out a lot of work on extra-intracranial micro anastomoses, improved the methodology of diagnosis and treatment stenosing and occlusive vascular diseases.
Since 2015, V.A. Lukyanchikov has been taking an active part in formation and development of the neurosurgical service of the Russian Federation regions: Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Republic of Dagestan, Chechen Republic, Ryazan Region, Arkhangelsk Region, Stavropol Region, Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Volgograd Region, etc.
He was awarded a Certificate of Merit of Kabardino-Balkaria (2018). He received a letter of thanks from Minister of Health of Chechen Republic for his invaluable contribution to formation of neurosurgical service of Chechen Republic (2020).
V.A. Lukyanchikov is one of organizers of courses and master classes on brain surgical revascularization, microsurgical techniques in head and neck surgery, aneurysm surgery.
He is an author of more than 300 scientific papers (Hirsch index – 8), 8 patent applications for invention.
His priority areas in neurosurgery are: vascular neurosurgery, brain revascularization, treatment of intracranial aneurysms, anomalies of craniovertebral junction, neuro-oncology, surgery of stenosing and occlusive lesions of brachiocephalic arteries, surgery of the skull base, multidisciplinary approach in surgery of pathology of head and neck.
