MD, DMSc, professor of the Department of Neurosurgery of the “Russian Medical Academy of Continuous Professional Education”, Ministry of Health of Russia.
In 1973, he graduated from N.I. Pirogov Moscow State Medical Institute. From 1973 to 2000, he worked his way up from medical resident to lead researcher at N.N. Burdenko Institute of Neurosurgery of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
In 1983, he defended his PhD thesis on “Endovascular surgery of arterial aneurysms of the internal carotid artery”. He is a student of the founder of world endovascular neurosurgery, academician F.A. Serbinenko. In 1995, he defended his doctoral thesis on “Clinic, diagnosis, surgical treatment of large and giant saccular aneurysms of the brain”. He is a proponent of surgical treatment of brain vascular pathology using modern minimally invasive technologies.
From 2000 to the present time, he is professor of Neurosurgery Department of Russian Medical Academy of Continuous Professional Education, head of vascular works at the department.
He is an author of more than 240 scientific publications, 6 textbooks, 6 patent applications. He continues to be actively engaged in scientific research activities.
In 2003, he was awarded the silver medal of Russian Academy of Sciences “For Development of Medicine and Healthcare”. He is a top-level specialist. He is a member of the Dissertation Council at the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine, member of Russian, European and World Associations of Neurosurgeons. He is a member of editorial boards of “Neurosurgery and Neurology of Kazakhstan”, “Issues of neurosurgery”, “Diagnostic and interventional radiology” as well as a coordinator of training in vascular neurosurgery within the national project “Medical care for patients with vascular pathology”.
He is a laureate of Russian Federation Government prize in the field of education in 2014.
He is honorary member of the Academician F.A. Serbinenko Russian Association of Endovascular Neurosurgeons. He was awarded the F.A. Serbinenko Gold Medal in 2023.
