Doctor of Medicine, Professor (2010), Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation (2011), Head of the Department and Clinic of Neurosurgery of Academician I.P. Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University, Ministry of Healthcare of Russiа, Professor of the Department of Kirov Military Medical Academy, Ministry of Defense of Russia. Member of the Association of Neurosurgeons of Russia, European Association of Neurosurgeons, World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies and Russian Association of Endocrinologists.

In 1996 defended his PhD thesis, in 2007 – his doctoral thesis on “Transsphenoidal endoscopic surgery in comprehensive pituitary adenoma treatment”.

Field of scientific interests: neurooncology, neuroendocrinology, endoscopic neurosurgery. Was first in Russia to perform transsphenoidal endoscopic surgery, founder of transsphenoidal endoscopic surgery in Russia.

Author of 582 scientific papers, 17 of them are guidance manuals, co-author of 13 monographs, textbooks and manuals.

Awards: the Order of Honor (2007), Laureate of the Government of the Russian Federation Prize in the field of science and technology (2019).
